SENIOR ENGINEER


Position Description:

  • Provides direction and supervision to junior staff
  • Reviews engineering studies, reports, designs and cost estimates for compliance with project intent and MPW standards.
  • Communicates with engineers concerning specifications, plan interpretation, testing, permitting and plan review.
  • Performs various aspects of project management for consultants and contractors performing work under contract with MPW, including developing and reviewing project scope, contracts, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Engineers water and wastewater systems to include preliminary field surveying and conceptual design, design calculations, drafting plans, preparing specifications, sizing pumps for pump stations, cost analysis, evaluating design alternatives, permitting, administering bid process, dealing with contractors, performing construction inspections and testing.
  • Contributes to short-term and long-term special projects, including reviewing and revising Commission specifications, preparing engineering reports required by federal and state regulators, and evaluating and recommending water or wastewater processes, equipment or materials
  • Addresses customer service concerns regarding assigned projects, and general information.
  • Prepares pertinent information, drawings, plans and details for review and application for project designs and permits at town, county, state and federal levels.
  • Maintains file information related to capital projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Masters Degree desired; supplemented by eight (8) or more years of previous experience and/or training that includes water and wastewater systems design, developer and capital project contractor project management and construction inspections; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. P.E. and South Carolina Environmental Licenses are desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Salary Range = $53,369 - $74,717
